Known Issue: 1999 NLTCS Data
- Issue: A number of variables are reset and/or overwritten at various points during the survey. For example, INHM, INOTHER, and PROXY are initially queried during the Screener interview. If the sample person is scheduled to receive a Community or Institutional interview, these questions may be asked again on the Control Card and INHM, INOTHER, and PROXY will be overwritten by the new responses. The process has introduced inconsistency among variables that are coded across several surveys. The variables contained in the opening sections of the Screener and the Control Card are the most affected by these overwrites.
- Action: This issue is unresolvable and applies to all versions of the 1999 NLTCS data release.
